Although reverse phone lookup has been available on the Internet for a while, there has not always been a way to match an unknown email address to the person behind it. Anyone can go to a variety of online phone number search sites and do a reverse lookup with just a phone number in hand. If you need to check an email though reverse lookup email services are less known and just not as complete as a telephone number search.

There are many different reasons that it is harder to find out the actual owner of an email address. Emails are set up daily by many people in order to communicate with others online. If the person does not use the email account much then they will forget the password and the address will just sit in cyberspace unused. If a hacker comes across the account and starts using it then they will probably keep the information of the person the same and start sending out emails. Since the account has been compromised the search will not reveal the actual person that is sending the unwanted emails.

Another reason that the information may not be all correct is because of all the free email accounts that can be set up online. With free email addresses the information the person enters into the site is not checked. So they can make up any name and false information and insert it and no one will ever know.

There are many different sites for you to do an email search on. The main thing is to get a site that offers you the service for free. By you getting the search done for free if they uncover nonfactual information you did not lose any money on the search.

When conducting the search you have the possibility for many results to come back. Sometimes you will not only be shown the name of the person, but you will also learn their address, city, state and sometimes a phone number that is connected to the email sender. Some sites will even take the search farther and let you conduct a free people search.

When you decide to do a people search you will be shown the same results as the email search plus some more information. You will now see how many people are connected to the same address, ages of the residents and you will be shown some links. The links will let you know if the person is on any social sites or if they have an actual website online that they are connected to.

If you decide to use a service that is going to charge you money make sure you check them out thoroughly. You never want to pay for the services up front when doing a reverse email lookup. You want to make sure you are going to get results first then you can decide if you want to proceed forward with the payment.

No matter which way you chose to proceed with you will know who is sending the unwanted email. You will be able to file a report for spamming and get them blocked from getting the mail to your inbox.
